I have a 1986 chevy silverado k10 with auto door locks. I have to lock unlock the door with the key. They typically only emerge after the vehicle has gone over 16 000 miles or 5 000 hours of driving. The door lock relay is located under the center of the dash.

Could the driver side control pod be the problem. You push another button and they unlock. So if your power door locks aren t working it could be due to bad wiring a bad switch or even the actuator. For vehicles with traditional style door lock cylinders and keys a bad power door lock relay will merely disable the power door lock feature.

You are able to unlock the truck from the passenger side any time. But even though they re a simple concept there are still a few things that could go wrong. For vehicles equipped with door lock cylinders the door can still be opened using the key. Checked all the fuses and replaced all the relays. Power door locks are quite simple. Seemed to be coming from the door lock switch.
